This article outlines the fundamentals of Dungeons in Diablo IV and how they effect your gameplay. Dungeons, like earlier versions of the game, are random, procedurally generated instances. In Diablo IV, however, they go a step further by providing Legendary Power and Renown to players in the zones where they are located.

Introduction

In Diablo IV, dungeons are randomized instances similar to previous installments of the game. It plays an important role in Diablo IV, offering Legendary Power and granting players with Renown in the zone they are located. Dungeons are restricted to players and their party only, without PVP interaction. Nevertheless, they are filled with powerful monsters, Gold, Items and Experience. Blizzard has confirmed over 150 dungeons featured in the game including Strongholds becoming dungeon entrances once cleared. They are scattered as followed:

  • Dry Steppes: 21
  • Fractured Peaks: 23
  • Hawezar: 23
  • Kehjistan: 23
  • Scosglen: 25

Objectives

A design that’ll permeate throughout more than 150 different randomized dungeons you’ll encounter during your adventures in Sanctuary

Each Dungeon will have its own objectives, usually 2-3, which must be completed in order to face a Boss. They usually involve activating gateways, levers, clearing all enemies in the area, finding and/or destroying objects. You cannot complete a dungeon without completing these objectives and slaying the final boss.

Legendary Aspects

Upon completing dungeons, players will unlock a Legendary Aspect, which can be imbued on a rare item. Initially, there will be 115 aspects ground across all dungeons in Diablo IV.
