Dustbowl 1930: About Us

Por: Leonardo Souza

Dustbowl 1930 started as a simple hub to our Twitch and Youtube channel, but has transformed into a passionate and spirited project we hope you'll enjoy! In here, you will find articles on our favorite games, movies and geek stuff. We know a bit about everything, and everything about nothing.

Greetings, stranger! I'm not surprised to see your kind here... and thank you for visiting Dustbowl 1930! This web site is dedicated to covering Diablo, World of Warcraft, and other fantastic games! You will also find articles about TV, movies, hardware and geek stuff! My name is Leo. I am a passionate theorycrafter looking to learn and share valuable video game knowledge, and while I've never considered myself a hardcore gamer, there's something soothing about gaming mechanics and character optimization. I intend to keep Dustbowl 1930 as traditional, clean, and objective as possible, with the goal of serving as an everlasting niche for informative geek and video game content. Hopefully, you will treasure and welcome the articles and guides listed here, and use them to excel in your adventures!

My gaming ventures began in the early 1990s with my earliest memories predicated on a glorious Atari 2600 running Pitfall, River Raid, and Enduro. True video game experiences, on the other hand, revolved around my beautiful Sega Genesis, which powered Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, and Road Rash. Years later, we were given a Super Nintendo, and while today's kids simply adopted Super Mario World, Top Gear, Super Street Fighter 2 and other 16-bit masterpieces, I was born around them, molded by them. I didn't see "Save your Game Progression" until I was already a man! Were they worthwhile? Absolutely!

In 1998 of the Second Age, my brother and I were presented with a PC! While we were gratiously-bestowed with titles such as Putt-Putt's One-Stop Fun Shop and some random Reader Rabbit's classic, Civilization II and Age of Empires is where we wasted brain matter. Needless to say, Freddi Fish and friends are not enough to keep 12-13 year old kids away from true PC gaming masterpieces such as Sim City 2000, Warcraft II and Half Life. We also founded our Age of Empires clan, the Bad Ass Killers, and I got into web design as any reputable AoE clan needed its won web site. Fortunecity hosted our beloved gaming portal for as long as it existed, and perhaps my first guide was how to deploy the 13-Minutes Iron Age Rush-- deadly stuff!

On Christmas of 2000, we scavanged enogh couch change, asked our parent for hard-crisp cash and sworn on stacks of bibles for good grades to get Diablo II. It was gorgeus, however, our futuristic-looking Hewlett-Packard - and that mouse with a ball - were not enough to run it. It wasn't until 2001, with Lord of Destruction and a new Pentium 4 custom-build powerhouse that we were able to ravage it. It was around that time that patch 1.09 was released and forums were lit with refined build tutorials. My first Fishymancer was born while draining the soul of my school grades a relative-solid social life. After-school sports and hanging with friends were replaced by Mephisto Magic Find and Cow Runs.

While I dabbled in web design throughout the years, it wasn't until 2004 when I started to intensify my work. A group of brazilian programmers who created perhaps the first World of Warcraft private server, WoW-Brasil, needed a web designer and I helped them with some PHP scripts. The group eventually faded with the release of the game but I kept a small blog with basic World of Warcraft tutorials and articles I had also written for them. When the host expired, I decided not to renew it.

Anywho, Dustbowl 1930 is my most-recent web project, built a couple of years ago with the premise to support my Twitch and Youtube Channel. But age it seems, has finally caught up with me. Adulthood and its requirements have halted my Twitch adventures and Youtube takes too much of the time I cherish running this web site. While Dustbowl 1930 has also suffered with the lack of time from my busy job, and lack of stamina from my sedentary lifestyle, the loomings of Diablo IV has renewed my passion for this project. Nevertheless, I'm counting on your support and feedback to make this web site thrive! Thank you!
