The "Poison Javazon" is a versatile option and quite a fun and balanced build. Clouds of poison engulf the enemy as the Amazon prances in circles, avoiding direct contact and excelling at clearing large mob packs for targeted farming runs, giving players a satisfying experience. This is not as popular as Lightning Javazon, but it's a fun spec to play and boast.

Too Many Poison Immunes;
Lacks Mobility;
Expensive End-Game Gear;

This build is relatively safe and beginner friendly. [Plague Javelin] offers a ton of Poison Damage, 14% added damage per level from [Poison Javelin] and perhaps one of the simplest builds, requiring little stacks of skill points leaving you with tons of customization options. For end-game content, the Plague Javelin Amazon points are distributed as follow:

Plague Javelin Amazon Core Skill Tree at Level 90

Prior to 2.4, Plague Javelin's damage over time actually increased with levels, from 3 seconds at level 1 to 10.6 seconds at level 20. While this sounds great, fights should rarely last this long, so a good portion of the damage from Plague Javelin is wasted. In 2.4, the duration is fixed at 3 seconds, so you'll get more damage but completing over a much shorter period of time.

Although [Plague Javelin] is your primary source of damage, Poison Immunes are often a nightmare for the "Poison Javazon". These are one of the more common annoying monster abilities you'll encounter, and they start showing up in the Nightmare difficulty. The long term strategy for this is [Charged Strike], but early on in Nightmare you'll still be putting points into your poison skills. [Jab] will provide a slow but serviceable stopgap attack, but it's not good for AoE, and [Decoy] and [Valkyrie] will provide added survivability. Fortunately, there are gearing options for a Mercenary that will help tremendously with early lack of damage.

VITALITY

None;

If you plan to use a [Spirit Runeword] shield, consider at least 156 points in Strength for the 4-socketed Monarch (elite Kite Shield) base item; The Monarch is the only 4-socketed base item that does not interfere with your run/walk speed. [Titan's Revenge] will serve as your primary weapon and requires 99 points in Dexterity. Still, you may need to invest around 110-150+ for a wider range of options. Although [Plage Javelin] is mana-intensive, you should be ok from energy provided by your gear. If you find yourself lacking, even though most will consider it a waste, invest at most 50 points in Energy.

THE EQUIPMENT

Although there are few "required" items for this build, the Poison Javazon is able to adapt to a number of different items. They benefit greatly from [+Skill To Skill Levels], particularly Javelin and Spear Skills, [Resistances], [Increased Attack Speed], [Faster Run/Walk], [Life/Mana Leech] and [Mana Regeneration];

CHARMS

One of the best charms for a Poison Javazon is the Harpoonist's Grand Charm, which adds +1 to Javelin and Spear Skills. Another Grand Charm that you will need is the [Rotting Fissure Grand Charm] which will sunder monster's poison immunity by 70%. For endgame, a [Hellfire Torch] and [Annihilus] are extremely useful for [+ To Skills], [Resistances] and Attributes, so make sure you get them. Fill in the gaps in your inventory with [Resistances] and Magic Find Small Charms.

The Act 2 Mercenary

A mercenary is an essential component of your build. He will help you with tanking, additional damage and, in some particular builds, a [Lower Resist] proc. Survivability is critical for your Mercenary more than anything, as his initial barrier provides an excellent casting opportunity. The Defiance Aura Mercenary is recommended, granting a Defense aura, helping survivability.

helmet
With +20% [Increased Attack Speed], [Life Leech], [Enhanced Damage], and [Poison Resistance], [Andariel's Visage] is the best choice for your mercenary, preferably it's ethereal variant with a [Scintillating Jewel of Fervor] jewel, which offers 15% [Increased Attack Speed] and +15 to [All Resistances]. A [Vampire Gaze], or [Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest] are also excellent choices as they offer some form of Leech, which is really important for keeping the Mercenary alive.
ARMOR
When it comes to armor, this merc is better suited with a [Fortitude]. Despite being an expensive Runeword, it provides +300% Enhanced Damage and +30% to All Resistances. [Chains of Honor] is another good, but pricey, option. It provides +65% to all resistances, 8% life leech, +200% damage to demons, and 100% damage to undead. Either choices are excellent and will give your Mercenary a goofy smile. [Treachery] is another excellent low-cost option, and it may be your default option until suitable upgrades are obtained. Other low-cost options include [Shaftstop] and [Duress].
WEAPON
The [Insight Runeword] in offers the ever-helpful [Meditation Aura], being a tremendous help with [Mana Regeneration]. The [Infinity Runeword] is always a good choice overall for your Merc, however, for the Poison Javazon, the [Conviction Aura] will not add to your skills. Since this is a very expensive runeword and doesn't target your main attack, it's not worth the investment.
The Act 5 Mercenary

As of Patch 2.4, Ladder players will find in the Act 5 Mercenary a great choice for the Poison Javazon, since he can use the new Ladder Sword Runeword, [Plague]. [Plague] has a 20% chance to cast a level 12 Lower Resist when struck, and given that this Mercenary also has Taunt, he'll be a tanky son-of-a-gun! Lower Resist is awfully good for your Poison Javazon, so now the old-reliable Act 2 Merc has competition. To finish his build, equip this the Act 5 Mercenary preferably with a [Vampire Gaze] with a [Scintillating Jewel of Fervor] jewel, which offers 15% [Increased Attack Speed] and +15 to [All Resistances] and a [Shaftstop].
